By day I am an electrical maintenance contractor at a Large
Chemical Factory in North Wales.
After a couple of accidents riding on the road I decided
to make the transition to bikes without
lights and haven’t looked back since, except when I’ve just passed someone!
Towards the end of
2001 I invested in a race prepared Yamaha FZR400RR,
leathers and boots etc
and after sorting out a stiff clutch I was ready to start the 2002 motor cycle
racing season.
This web site
includes a diary of events and results from the race meetings I have
competed in. It also includes a gallery of pictures
and a sponsors section.
After
my race engine blew up at Aintree on
the 13th July 2002 in only my third meeting,
I raced with the bikes
spare engine until the beginning of 2004 which was
virtually standard and considering this,
I was really pleased with the results I
achieved.
For 2004 though, I put together another engine with the top end bought from Tim
Kermode which certainly helped matters.
With the help
of my girlfriend Sophie, family, friends and work colleagues
I had a really good first season
(only 7 meetings though) winning my first
trophy for ‘Novice of the day’ at Anglesey in only my
fourth meeting and a third place trophy at the
Anglesey Grand with the Wirral 100 club.
2003 started well with another two third placed trophies from the opening 3
meetings, only for a crash in my fifth meeting of the year, also at
Anglesey, to put me out until 2004 due to financial difficulties in
repairing the bike.
2004 was a much better and more involved season where I competed at a lot
more meetings and picked up my pace dramatically, taking not only my first
win but three victories in total at both Tonfanau and Anglesey as well as
fastest laps at both tracks. I also managed to take a couple of 3rd's
at Aintree which was by far my best results there. Throughout the
season I won a total of 12 trophies,
from 13 meetings (2 of which I didn't race at due to engine failures) and
took 3rd in the Wirral 100 Club
Championships.
2005 went really well
(apart from two crashes in the opening two meetings and an engine blow up in
the fifth) and from the 13 meetings I entered I won
15 races, took numerous podiums, set
3 new lap records at Tonfanau and also beat
Dave Baths' F400, 7 lap race record at the Anglesey Grand (although he went
out the following day and beat me and my newly set record!). I managed
to win another 8 trophies throughout the
season, and finished 2nd in the Wirral
100, Nantwich and District, Crewe and South Cheshire and the overall
Cheshire Centre Championships.
In 2006 I have been competing in the New Era Superclub
Championship which takes me all around the UK to some of the great racing
circuits we have. I am also contesting the Wirral 100
Championship again in a bid to go one better than 2005 by winning it!
Thanks for looking and enjoy the
rest of the site.
Bainesy.
